Layton, the Montreal Book Fair and Dust Jacket of the Week
Just picked up a First Edition of Irving Layton’s Balls for a One-Armed Juggler – for the same price as a run-of-the mill hardcover bestseller – in which two of the greatest Canadian poems ever written: Butterfly on Rock and A Tall Man Executes a Jig sit side by each on pages 110 and 111 – the first time they appear in print…or at least in book form…. And what a terrific cover this volume sports:

Buying first editions of Canadian prose and poetry is well within the reach of most…the fruit is low lying my friends….go pick it….
Speaking of Layton, he will be the focus of this weekend’s Salon du Livre Ancien de Montréal Antiquarian Book Fair Université Concordia Pavillon McConnel, 1400 boul. de Maisonneuve ouest. Be there.
